Podiatic Biomechannics looks at how the foot functions in relation to the rest of the body and the ground. Many aches, pains and injuries are a result of the biomechanics of the foot. By means of gait anaylsis and pathology can be treated by orthosis, strappings or exercises that are used to target the problem and cure it. Gait and Posture Analysis
The human gait is a complex constantly adapting and changing process. Every single person has unique features to their gait, so much so that the CIA has researched using it for identification purposes. We use state of the art video and pressure plate systems to analyse your gait & posture. This allows us to target the treatment you need for your problem more effectively as well as acting as a monitoring tool to assess your reaction to treatment. There is a fixed one off charge for gait analysis no matter how many tests are performed and how often, call for details.
Orthosis
We provide a huge range of orthosis. Many conditions of the foot and ankle respond well to customised off the shelf orthosis. Sometimes it is necessary to make a custom made device to fit your foot precisely as well as to provide correction not possible with an off the shelf device. We also provide Ankle foot orthosis for those rare times when your ankle and foot must be stabilised together.
Cryosurgery
We use liquid nitrogen to freeze and destroy skin lesions such as verrucae and skin tags. This allows for rapid effective treatment but like all surgery there are some risks involved.
Foot Surgery
Minor soft tissue procedures such as those for ingrown toenails are conducted on the premises by all of our staff. If you require more invasive surgery below the level of the skin you will be seen before and after in the clinic but the actual procedure will be performed in a private hospital in theatre.
Chiropody
This is the old fashioned term that covers the conservative treatment of skin lesions of the foot. Many people feel it just applies to corns, calluses and nail cutting but the range is much greater. At the Woodberry Foot Health Clinic our Podiatrists will assess and treat your feet with the aim on not just maintaining but improving your foot health.
